Volunteers who have completed the initial volunteer training and actively volunteer for a minimum of two sessions each year are eligible to apply to ride in the horse exercise program. Acceptance into the program requires a successful riding evaluation and completion of all of the following additional horsemanship clinics:
Intro to Horse & Barn Safety (Leadership Training Clinic)
Warm Up Under Saddle
These mounted exercises will prepare the horse physically and mentally for your exercise session. Learn how to mount politely, supple the horse from head to tail and extend the stride of the horse to maximize muscle stretching and toning.Bending & Flexing
Effective Exercise
Focus will be on learning to use your centered body position to properly and softly back, stop, and achieve flowing lateral movement from the horse.Note: Each of the Horsemanship clinics are approximately 1 hour in length.
